“in das ewige Leben”
(“ to the Eternal Life”).
Romance for soprano and string quartet. Poetry by f. Garcia Lorca and Juan Ramon Jimenes.
“From the Four Winds”
for a women’s choir and four French horns.
Texts from the Bible in English, Belorussian, German and Greek
The piece was written for and commissioned by Melodia Women's Choir New York City. Premiered in April 2013.
The piece is based on the image of four archangels, standing in four corners of the world, holding the four winds. Therefore four French horns are placed in four corners of the audience. Same motives are played from different corners, providing a sensation of a sounding arch. The choir repeats the same phrases in four languages. Philosophical idea of this composition is connected to the Christian vision of the world.
